The Roman architect Vitruvius had described how the human body could be the basis for a system of proportions. Leonardo da Vinci's 1490 diagram reconciling circle and square depicts this. His passion for art and science is exhibited in all of his work and is an image of the High Renaissance harmony.

However, not only was Leonardo an artist, a philosopher, and an inventor, but also an anatomist - one of the first to dissect and map the human body. This is seen below in one of  his exceptional sketches, the 'Vitruvian Man' along with da Vinci's backwards writing. This 'Universal Man' represents the beauty, complexity, and symmetry of the human frame. It also represents da Vinci's passion for the Art, the Science and the Philosophy of the medical field so familiar to that of chiropractic.

It is for these reasons we have chosen his art work as our logo.

Vitruvian or Universal Man by Leonardo da Vinci. c.1490
